- Wear your seatbelt. Almost 40 percent of all vehicle occupants killed are not wearing a seatbelt.
- Slow down. Excessive speed is a contributing factor in 20 percent of occupant fatalities.
- Don’t drink and drive. Ever.
- Check your tires. Do they need replacing? Are they properly inflated?
- Share the road. There’s more traffic, pedestrians, trucks, bicycles and motorcycles on the road in Summer. Drive defensively, not aggressively.
- Send your car for a check-up. Get your mechanic to check all the vital components. Think Prevention.
- Keep your mirrors and windows clean.
- Eliminate your blind spot.
- Don’t tailgate. Leave at least 2 seconds between the car in front of you... one thousand one... one thousand two.
- Don’t use a cell phone while driving. Anything that takes your attention away from the road is dangerous.
